There are many reasons to donate to Women Drummers International, but we wanted to highlight a few of them here.
Women Drummers International has provided opportunities for more than 150 amazing women to attend the Born to Drum Women’s Drum Camp through our work study program. These opportunities are provided to women who would not otherwise be able to attend camp. Women who attend camp on work study pay their room and board and $25 tuition. The remainder of the tuition is supported by donations to Born to Drum and and by the income from our programs. These women support the camp by doing many different jobs necessary to the creation of drum camp.
In 2011 WDI was able to begin a service program, Take Drums to Heart, that has long been in our plans. This program furthers our mission by bringing faculty into communities that would otherwise not have access to the drum. A small grant from the Bill Graham Foundation has provided seed money to begin this program in a small way. Donations to this program will allow us further develop the program and expand and deepen the work.
If you would like to direct your donation to a specific program, please indicate that in the Memo of your check or in the space provided by Paypal if you are donating online. If you want WDI to use the money at it’s discretion you can leave the space blank.
Checks can be made to Women Drummers International and sent to WDI at PO Box 3715, Oakland, CA 94609.
